How to connect website guides and service pages
Internal links should help readers take the next useful step. Build them around the questions that arise in the content, then check that every important page is reachable.
Start with a simple hierarchy
Use the homepage to introduce services and the resource hub. Let topic pages organise related guides. Each guide should link back to its topic and to genuinely relevant next reading. Service pages can point to preparation guides that help visitors make a better enquiry.
Put links where they help
If a guide explains changing a URL, link to the redirect-mapping instructions at that point. If a package page asks for a brief, link to the brief guide beside the request. Avoid forcing a reader to search the footer for an answer mentioned in the body.
Write descriptive link text
Use “prepare a website brief” rather than “click here.” The words should make sense in the paragraph and describe the destination. Google's guidance recommends crawlable anchor links with href attributes and useful anchor text. A scripted click target without a normal link may not provide the same discovery path.
Check reachability
Start at the homepage and navigate to a representative article through the hub and topic. Check whether pages exist that are only listed in the XML sitemap. Add a useful visible route to important content instead of assuming a sitemap replaces navigation.
Review links after editing
Verify the destination still answers the promised question. Update links directly to final URLs after a migration, and check section anchors. Keep a short list of related reading; dozens of loosely connected recommendations can make the next step harder to find.
A good link map serves the reader and exposes the site's structure. It does not need to make every article link to every other article. At launch, check for orphan pages and broken destinations. Later, revise connections when content changes rather than adding repetitive keyword anchors to satisfy an arbitrary link count.
